THROCKMORTON, Norma “Jean”
age 87, formerly of Huber Heights, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014. Jean continued her active lifestyle to the end, suffering heart failure while boating and floating with family at Lake Cumberland, KY.

Jean was preceded in death by parents, H. Ressler and Nellie Brown, and oldest son, David. She is survived by husband of 67 years, Donald; daughters, Karen Dean and Diane (Jim) Graham; sons, Neil and Paul; grandchildren, Jeff, Joel, and Laura; brother, Richard (Naomi) Brown; sister, Karla (Rod) Faulkner; numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Jean graduated from West Carrollton H.S., then studied and taught piano at the Proctor School of Music in Dayton, before starting a family of five precious children with Don from 1951 to 1963 in Miami Township. The entire family was very involved in operating Throckmorton Bros. hardware stores and garden centers at many locations in the Dayton area. Jean was a devoted Christian and an active member of Grace Community Church in Huber Heights. She kicked up her heels as a member of the Double H Square Dancing Club. Jean also had many friends at Orange Grove RV Park from wintering in Texas. She and Don recently moved to Otterbein Retirement Community. Jean loved music and her family, was very outgoing, and made friends wherever she went.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
