Wilma McCabe, age 69 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. She was born July 23, 1948 in Knox County, Kentucky, daughter of the late George and Mary Taylor.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd, Hazel, Joe, Jimmy and Eddie. Wilma is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dale McCabe; daughters, Tammy (Mark) Richardson and Angi (Carl) Cotter; grandchildren, Mark Richardson, Julia Richardson, Tifani (Zachary Beaman) Kendig, Victoria Kendig, Colby Cotter and Casey Cotter; siblings, Dick (Sissy) Taylor and Wanda (Gary) Brush and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Wilma completed her high school education by receiving her GED in 1986. Wilma worked for Berean Book Store, Dayton in sales for nearly 10 years. She was also an employee of Christian Light Book Store, Beavercreek for over 38 years and served as their manager. Following retirement, she had also worked in sales for Dove's Nest, Centerville as well as Quality Cleaners in Beavercreek at their front counter.
Wilma served with her husband pastoring to the Brethren in Christ Fellowship. She was blessed to have been a part of Valley Street and Gethsemane congregations. Wilma enjoyed her fellowship as a Pastor's wife, Sunday School teacher, Children's Church leader, Choir member and Song Leader. Her love of music led her to participate in the Tru Lite Gospel Trio as a vocalist along with her husband and good friends, Jim and June Arp. In her spare time, Wilma enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, church activities and keeping her home.
Family will receive guest from 10:00-11:00 am Monday, May 21, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Services will immediately follow at 11:00 am Monday also at the funeral home and finally procession to Dayton Memorial Park for burial.
