Willis Denver Keirns, Sr., affectionately known as Will, passed away on April 28, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 77. Born on May 1, 1947, in Athens, Ohio, Will grew up with a relentless spirit and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.
A proud graduate of Chauncey Dover High School, Class of 1965, he went on to forge a successful career as a steel worker at Duriron Casting Company, dedicating 32 1/2 years to his craft. Will's strong work ethic was matched only by his compassionate heart; he overcame many difficulties in his early life and emerged as a devoted family man who always looked out for others. Whether through a kind gesture or a listening ear, Will embodied the essence of selflessness that endeared him to so many.
He took great pride in serving his country in the United States Army, a testament to his character and commitment to the greater good. Will found joy in cheering on his Cincinnati Bengals and indulging in his passion for NASCAR and X-Finity Racing, especially as a big Tony Stewart fan. His interests were not merely hobbies but a way for him to bond with family and friends, creating cherished memories that will echo in their hearts for years to come.
Will is survived by his two beloved sons, Willis (Melissa) Keirns, II and Shawn Keirns; and his grandchildren, Brittany, Jordan (Taylah), Shannon (D.J.), Justin (Hannah), Elaina Sides, and Avah Keirns, held a special place in his heart, as did his great-grandchildren, Eliam, Kai, Jensen, Dejuan Jr., Kysen, Levon, Maya and Jai. Each moment spent with his family was a treasure, filled with laughter and joy that he cherished deeply.
He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Debbie) Evener, whose bond brought him comfort and support throughout their lives, and their children, Tyler, Corey and Morgan.
Among his proudest accomplishments was his involvement with Fajita Fest and Friends, an organization dedicated to helping numerous children and families over the years, illustrating his lifelong commitment to serving others.
Will joins in eternal peace his parents, Orland Mansfield and Doris Evener; along with his dear brother, Donnie Keirns, whom he missed dearly but now reunites with in spirit; and his great grandson, Ziare.
