Listen to Obituary

Willie Lerone Redmond was born on October 6, 1972, in Chicago, Illinois, to Elaine Jordan and Willie Lee Redmond. In 1979, his mother relocated the family to Dayton, Ohio, where she later met Enoch Scott, who lovingly embraced the role of father and became a guiding presence in the lives of Willie and his siblings.

Willie spent most of his life in Dayton and was known for his strong work ethic, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. As the oldest of five siblings in the household, he naturally stepped into a leadership role. As the family grew, he proudly became the oldest brother to an even larger extended family.

A graduate of Meadowdale High School, Class of 1991, Willie understood the value of hard work from an early age. He began working at just 14 years old and, through dedication and discipline, purchased his first car at age 16 with money he had saved himself. His interest in finance and investing was sparked by lessons learned from his beloved grandmother, and throughout his life he remained passionate about stocks, bonds, and financial literacy.

After high school, Willie attended Wright State University before answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force in 1993. During his years of military service, he earned multiple achievement medals and distinctions in recognition of his dedication and excellence. Following his military career, Willie worked as an aerospace and electrical engineer, applying his intelligence and problem-solving abilities to a profession he enjoyed. Never content to limit himself, he also pursued entrepreneurship and successfully launched his own business.

During this time, Willie loved being a father to his two children Quincy and Rachel Elaine and 4 stepchildren. He shared countless memories, life lessons, and moments of laughter that his children will cherish forever.

Willie found joy in many things. He loved finance, traveling, reading books, studying the Bible, and working with his hands. He was an intelligent thinker who could often be found researching a new idea or planning his next project. He was also known for his sense of humor. Willie considered himself quite the comedian, always ready with a joke-whether it was funny or not. His family lovingly teased him about his jokes, but they will forever miss the laughter and smiles he brought into their lives.

Above all, Willie will be remembered as a kind, helpful, hardworking, and thoughtful man who deeply cared for those he loved. His wisdom, and unwavering determination left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Willie was preceded in death by his fathers, Enoch Scott and Willie Lee Redmond; his grandmother, Evangeline Jordan; and his beloved daughter, Kenya Moore.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Elaine Scott; his siblings, Charles Smith, Peritha Garland (Waymond), Ramon Redmond, Enoch, Scott jr., Leon Perkins , Rushida Redmond, Lydia Redmond, Stephanie Cunningham ( Corey), Kiwana Redmond-Larry (Adnan), Anthony Jackson, Jay Dee Scott, Roberta Redmond, and Jai Redmond; honorary brothers David Hilkes and Sidney Rucker, his children, Quincy Redmond, Rachel Redmond, and Anthony Grant; grandchild Rain Marie Davis, special uncle Sheldon Little, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and dear friends.

Willie’s earthly journey has ended, though sometimes rough he persevered. The lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” His legacy of hard work, service, faith, and family will never be forgotten. ❤️
