Listen to Obituary

William E. Morgan Sr., born November 20, 1935, in Wilbur, Somerset, Pennsylvania, was the son of John G. Morgan and Tessie Wise. He moved with his family to Girard, Ohio, as a young child and went on to live a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957, primarily helping build transportation infrastructure in Alaska. On December 1, 1962, he married the love of his life, Susan Lynn Kemp, in Winchester, Virginia.

In 1966, Bill began working at General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. During his years at GM, he and a few coworkers planned and hosted legendary Super Bowl parties that became a tradition for years. After retiring, Bill and Sue moved to Sebring, Florida, where they enjoyed the water and sunshine of a place that had long been their favorite family vacation spot. In 1998, they returned to Ohio to be closer to family. Bill later spent ten years working as a transport operator for Cardinal Health.

Bill took pride in the things he cared about, whether it was his cars or his lawn that was routinely considered the nicest in the neighborhood. He was happiest outside, tending to his yard with a good beer nearby. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, and enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, and the companionship of dogs and cats. Florida always held a special place in his heart, having been the setting for countless family summer vacations full of fun and relaxation.

Above all, Bill was a devoted husband and father. He loved his wife dearly and cared for her with unwavering devotion until her passing in 2013. Having grown up with very little, he spent his life working hard to ensure his children had the opportunities and security he did not have. His greatest legacy was not measured in what he accumulated, but in what he gave: his generosity, his unconditional love, and his steadfast commitment to his family. He was a man of integrity who believed in taking care of the people he loved, and his family always knew they could count on him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tessie Morgan; his sister, Mary Ann Grist; his brothers, Jack Morgan and Robert Morgan; and his beloved wife, Susan.

He is survived by his four children, William Morgan Jr. (Kim), Pamela Morgan, James Morgan (Robin), and Lesley Krimpenfort (Michael); ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward a part of him in their hearts.

Bill was the best dad his children could have asked for. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, the importance of family, and the small ways love is shown every day. He will be remembered with gratitude and forever loved by his family. To share a memory of William or leave a special message for his family, please visit the Guestbook below.
