William W. Hare, born March 24, 1952, in Washington D.C., passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Kettering, Ohio. William's life was marked by his dedication to both his family and his work, as well as his service to his country.
After graduating from Beavercreek High School, he bravely entered the United States Navy, where he served on the aircraft carrier, USS Coral Sea. Following his military service, William pursued further education at Sinclair Community College earning an Associate's degree that equipped him for a diverse career. He spent seven years working for the post office before transitioning to a successful role as a truck driver for Werner Enterprises, where he dedicated another seven years.
William was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his loving and patient demeanor. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 23 years, Bonnie (Wylie) Hare. His love extended further to numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends, all of whom cherished his presence in their lives.
In his leisure time, William enjoyed the serenity of nature, often finding joy in camping and fishing. He shared many memorable camping trips in the Rocky and Smoky Mountains with his beloved wife.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Ret. USAF Col., Warren Hare. He is survived by his mother, Florence Ann (Ley) Hare, who is 100 years old; sisters, Carol Hare-Fox, Mary (Bob) Worth, and Annette (Tim) Scroggins; brother, Dr. Richard (Pier) Hare; step-daughters, Cyndi Byers and Julie (Homer) Hardbarger; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 2:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Family and friends may visit from 1:00PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider Planting a Tree from the website in memory of Bill.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and resilience that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever carry his memory with them.
