William Jesse Gordon, 43, of Hamilton, formerly of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, with his twin brother, William James Gordon, his daughter, Maddie and ex-wife and lifelong friend, Dawn Stratmoen at his bedside.
He and his twin brother, William James Gordon, were born on September 12, 1975 in Youngstown, Ohio to William James Bell and Lanette (Mitchell) Gordon Wade. Jesse was always known as "The Baby" because he was born 1 minute after James. Being 6'7" tall, his mother affectionately referred to him as "The Eighth Wonder".
As a small child Jesse was sickly and required a lot of special health care. At about the age of 7 he began to sprout and flourished physically. By the time Jesse was 11 years old he was bigger and larger than anyone in his family. He went on to use his physical blessings to become a pretty accomplished athlete at whatever school and sport he engaged in.
In his high school years Jesse was a star basketball and football player for the Centerville Elks. He also played on the Centerville High School Basketball team.
He was a hard worker and he knew at an early age that to have a job and to keep a job was an important part of being a man. "If a man don't work, a man don't eat".
Jesse enjoyed cooking and his career of food service management. Jesse was a lifelong fan of the Duke Blue Devils, and particularly of his basketball idol, Christian Laettner.
He was also an animal lover, being especially fond of cats.
More than anything Jesse loved "his girls", Madesyn M. "Maddie" Gordon, and Danielle K. Russell were his reason for living.
Jesse was preceded in death by his special nephew, Charles Norris.
In addition to his daughters, he leaves to mourn his memory: mother, Lanette D. Wade, devoted twin brother, William James (Sheila) Gordon, Loving sister, Tamika S. Gordon "Tammy", brother, A. Antwan Gordon, brother, John L. Gordon "John L." ; ex-wife and lifelong friend, Dawn Stratmoen; Aunt Pat and her children, Lamont, Latonya, John "John John"; nieces, Marquetta, Lanette, and special nephew, Malcolm Phelps and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00pm on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Newcomer, South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd.
