William C. Cokeley Sr., born on August 29, 1952, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the age of 73. William will be remembered as a devoted family man and a beloved figure to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
William’s life was distinguished by his boundless energy and his love for the great outdoors. He found great joy in working on cars and riding motorbikes, pursuits that gave him both challenge and fulfillment. His adventurous spirit drew him time and again to the open air, where he felt most at home surrounded by nature.
Later in life, William embraced quieter pastimes as well, cherishing the time he spent watching soap operas with Debbie. These moments reflected his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and his ability to find joy in the company of those he loved.
William’s personality shone brightly—he was known as a wonderful person, full of warmth and humor. A self-proclaimed jokester, he had a knack for playfulness and a bit of ornery fun, always bringing a smile to those around him. Above all, his love for his family was unwavering, a cornerstone of his character that shaped the lives of generations.
He is survived by a large and loving family: his sons William Cokeley Jr. and Carl Cokeley (Katie Cokeley); his daughter Melissa Riggs (Jerry Riggs); his adopted son, Terry (Maddie); his step-daughter Beverly Eblin; his sisters Nancy, Peggy, and Sandy; his grandchildren Trent, Mercedes, Brittaney, Christy, Gavin, Lily, Emily and Seda; his fiancé of 23 years, Debbie Brown; and his great-grandchildren Payton, Faith, Justin, Jaylani, Jaxon, Liam, Yasmin, and Nelson Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, more family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Vessie Cokeley, whose memory continued to be a guiding presence in his life, and 10 of his siblings.
Those who knew William will remember him as a devoted family man whose presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. The love and light he shared with his family and friends remain his enduring legacy.
His memory will be cherished and honored by all who loved him.
