NICHOLS, William A., age 88, of Troy, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born in 1923 in Terre Haute, IN. William was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corps. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gerda Nichols; daughters, Debra (Jack) Staudt and Melissa (Dennis) Purcell; one grandson, Nick Staudt. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Oneita (Aldrich) Nichols. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Troy Hayner Culture Center. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Miami County or Friends of Hayner.
