Willa Mae Smith, 79, of Dayton, OH passed away on May 7, 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Willa was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 10, 1937 to Willie and Vaddie (Varner) Smith.
Willa retired from Dayton RTA where she worked 20 years. She loved to garden and work in her yard, always wearing a tool belt and fixing things as she went. Willa had a passion for Danielle Steele novels, loved spending time with her granddaughter and great grandchildren and loved listening to Rhythm and Blues. She had a passion and love of life, loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Wayne) Griffin; a son, Terrance Smith; four grandchildren, Triana Jackson, Terrance Smith, Sereta Smith and Christopher Smith; great grandchildren, Amaris and Andersen Jackson; sisters, Sarah Wilson and Earlene Bonner; brothers, Richard (Dean) Smith and Robert (Darlene) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anna Ramsey, Helen Sampson and Marcia Ludd; a brother, Buffus Smith Jr. A very special mention to her son in law and care giver Wayne Griffin for going above and beyond for Willa Mae. Also, a special thanks to care givers Kim and Vicki for their loving care as well.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory-North Chapel, 4014 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH 45424 with Minister Teresa Thomas officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
