Wilbur Rosmond Green was one of sixteen siblings born to the late Lewis “Dewey” Green and Beulah “Cullie” (Allen) Green in Wilmington, NC on March 6, 1939. He was educated in the New Hanover County School System in Wilmington, NC. Wilbur later joined the United States Air Force in 1960, retiring after twenty years of service. After retiring from military service, he went into Civil Service employment at Wright Patterson AFB and retired after twenty years. During his tour at the then Lockbourne AFB, Columbus, OH, one day in August of 1965, he met (blind date) and married “Rod”, his beloved wife of 58 years. From this union was born one daughter, Keelie Denise.

Wilbur became a member of the Mt. Pisgah Church in 1995 and served as a Trustee, sang in the Male Chorus, and served on the Usher Ministry. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and watching Little League Baseball on TV, but his favorite enjoyment was garage sale hopping.

In addition to his parents, Wilbur is preceded in death by ten brothers, Louis, Harry, Adrian, Herbert, Milton, Howard, Carl, Randall, Nathaniel and Thomas: four sisters, Winnie P. Green Strange, Etta Green, Aria Green, and Beulah Green Jones.

Wilbur will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, Rosalyn; daughter, Keelie Denise and son-in-law, Purcell (“JR”) Brown, Jr. of Miamisburg, OH. Sister, Avery Jones of Atlanta GA and brother-in-law, Dwight Reed of Columbus, OH; Loving nephews: Darryl (Vonzella) Jones of Wilmington, NC, Derrick (Denise) Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, Drew Jones of Wilmington, NC, Jay Brandon (Mary Gaffney) Jones of Charlotte, SC, Myron “Dewey” (Sandra) Jones of Atlanta, GA, Kevin (Joanne) Green, Bronx, NY, and Roger (Coraminita Mahr) Green of Brooklyn, NY. Close buddies: Mollie Hawkins (sports buddy), Wayne Jones (fishing & garage sale buddy), Joe Love, and Butch Chestnut (all of the city), and a host of other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 10:30am to 11:30am at Mt. Pitsgah Baptish Church, 1 Diamond Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45405. A funeral service will begin at the church at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery at 2pm with Military Honors.
