Wayne A. Derryberry

Wayne A. Derryberry, 65, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away at home, on Friday, January 5, 2018.

Wayne was born in Lima, Ohio to Quentin and Josephine Derryberry on August 2, 1952. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a chemical dependency therapist at Nova House for 20 years, and during his time rose to the role of supervisor. After retiring from Nova House, he co-founded Windsong Healing Arts, a shamanic healing and education center, with his partner, Donna Smith.

Wayne and Donna enjoyed camping, hiking, and exploring nature. Wayne was an avid reader, stamp collector, and recreational cartographer. He will be remembered for his laugh and his Waynebows.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his partner Donna Smith, daughter Jamie Derryberry, granddaughter Angelika, stepdaughter Erin (Gavin), stepson Shawn, step-grandsons Kai, Jerran, and Shea, brothers Quentin (Trudy) and Jon (Robin), sisters Gail (Don) and Joan (Ray), Theresa Whitedove, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family will greet friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek. A memorial ceremony will also be held at Newcomer at 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow the ceremony at St. Luke Catholic Church, Bishop Ford Hall in Beavercreek.
