Listen to Obituary

Ward Wylie Jurich, age 87, of Moraine, Ohio passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026 in Dayton, surrounded by his family.

Born on August 15, 1939 in Mullens, West Virginia, Ward lived a life defined by devotion to his family, steady work, and the simple joys that meant the most to him. He was hardworking, loving, caring, devoted, and straightforward in a way that those who knew him understood and appreciated.

Ward worked as a brick mason for over fifty years, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic and enduring commitment. Outside of work, he enjoyed playing cards, owned horses and enjoyed racing, and took great pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. He was also a lifelong Dodgers fan. Among the blessings of his life, one of his proudest accomplishments was being married for 66 years to the love of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his children, Rocky and Darlene Jurich, James and Angela Jurich, and Tammi and Alan Kuether. Ward’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Clint Jurich, Chaz Jurich, Paige Jurich, Justin (Kylee) Jurich, Joshua Jurich, Jaqulyn Jurich, Jaymie Jurich, and Jordan Jurich, and through his great-grandchildren: Jagger, Jeremiah, Jett, Boston, Autumn, Kora, and Kenzie. He is also survived by his brothers, Roy Lee (Sharon) Presson and David (Mary) Presson; his sister, Linda (Terry) Northern, and by many loved ones who will continue to carry his memory forward.

Ward was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mike and Ethel Jurich; by his son, Gary Lee Jurich; and by his siblings, Alice Muse, Bob Jurich, Joe Jurich, Brenda Dice, and Marty Presson.

Ward will be remembered for the life he built, the family he loved, and the honest, steadfast way he carried himself each day. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
