Vivian Jean Kemper, born on October 16, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in Middletown, Ohio, under hospice care. She was a dedicated daughter to her parents, Malcom Campbell and Ruby Fraker, and the beloved sister of Malcom Campbell Jr. and Patty Jo Dixon, who have preceded her in death.
Vivian’s early life in Dayton set the foundation for her future endeavors. After graduating from high school, she began her career at NCR before pursuing her passion for nursing. She attended nursing school, where she earned both her LPN and RN degrees. Her professional journey led her to work in various capacities, including hospitals, private practice, and hospice care. Additionally, she served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, providing a voice for young children in need, which showcased her compassionate nature.
A woman of strong opinions, Vivian was endowed with an infectious sense of humor that could fill a room with joy. She cared deeply for her family, always concerned about the well-being of her children and grandchildren. When she loved, she loved hard, offering unwavering support and boundless affection, especially to her cherished daughters and grandchildren, whom she adored spoiling and babysitting whenever she had the opportunity.
Vivian enjoyed a variety of hobbies that enriched her life. She had a passion for shopping and found delight in capturing moments through photography, including buildings, flowers, and family. In her earlier years, she took pleasure in scrapbooking, preserving memories for generations to come. She also enjoyed cooking and was very particular with who was able to get her recipes. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling with her beloved husband, Daniel Kemper, with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage. They particularly enjoyed trips to Houghton Lake in Michigan with family, creating lasting bonds and joyful memories together.
Vivian is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Kemper; her daughters, Michelle Riffle, Pam Norvel, and Danna (Nathan) Wilcox; and her grandchildren, Nick, Dakoata, Elaina, Lauren, Ashlynn, and Weston. She is also remembered by her siblings, Char Dixon and Steve Dixon, as well as numerous loving relatives and friends whose lives she touched with her vibrant spirit.
Vivian Jean Kemper leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459). A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm.
