Virginia W. Chapple
May 27, 1920 – August 16, 2019
Chapple, Virginia W., age 99, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2019.
She attended Fairview High School in Dayton.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, always lending help to anyone she could.
She was strong in her faith and had been a very active member of Eastmont United Methodist Church and served in the women's group there, as a Sunday school teacher, and in many other volunteer roles.
She was married to her husband, Bill, for 61 years before his death in 2004. Together, they were founding members of the Belmont Chapter of AARP.
Virginia was a wonderful baker and proudly earned first place at the Greene County Fair for her apple pie. She later would joke that her apple pie was "award winning."
In her later years, she loved spending time with her cat, Sasha, talking with her family, eating anything sweet, and recalling all the many amazing memories she had made over her lifetime. Her family was together at her home in East Dayton to celebrate her 99th birthday with her in May.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, William S. Chapple; her parents, Ray and Bessie Warrick; her son, William "Bud" Chapple; her brothers, Roy and Billy Warrick; and her nephew Jim Warrick.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Roderer (Paul) and Joyce Chapple; her sister, Edna "Babe" Romine; her grandchildren, Paul Roderer, Jr. (Jill), Cynthia Roderer (Patrick Souhan), Rebecca Price (Richard), Christa Gaines (Joseph), Christopher Chapple (Susie), Joshua Chapple, Amy Elston (Levi), Angela Duff (Doug), and Melissa Alexander (Ryan); her nephews, Bob Clarke, Gary Warrick, and Richard Warrick; and many great grandchildren whom she loved very much.
There will be a graveside service at Valley View Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 2:45 p.m.
