Virginia C. Cadwell, born on March 19, 1922 in Delphos, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 104. Throughout her extraordinary life, Virginia was known for her unwavering dedication to both her family and her career, traits that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Virginia spent many formative years developing her professional skills with commitment and integrity. She notably dedicated significant service to her country, working at Crypto at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and later contributing her expertise at Defense Investigative Services at DESC. Her many years in these roles underscored her sense of duty and dedication to national service, and she was respected by her colleagues for her diligent, confidential work.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Virginia was cherished within her family circle for her exceptional talents and warmhearted presence. She was an accomplished seamstress whose sewing projects brought comfort and beauty to family life. Known also as an outstanding cook, she enriched family gatherings with memorable meals that became the centerpieces of tradition and togetherness. Her love for her family was boundless, and she took great joy in every opportunity to care for and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Addison Cadwell; her loving parents, Charles and Susan (Moreo) Lucius; her cherished granddaughter, Kathy Doncaster; and her nine siblings. 

Virginia is survived by her devoted children, Daniel (Debbie) Cadwell and Jeanne (Carlton) Doncaster; grandchildren, Nathaniel (Sophie) Cadwell, Bill (Brittany) Doncaster, Elizabeth (Ben) Devine, and John (Catherine) Doncaster; great grandchildren, Helen and Alice Doncaster, Bridget, Molly, and Colin Devine, and Adam Doncaster; and numerous extended family members and friends.  

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45429. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Avenue, Dayton, OH 45409. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Hospice of Dayton or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Virginia. 

Virginia C. Cadwell’s remarkable journey through life was marked by dedication, skill, and above all, love for her family. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and honored by all who knew her.
