Virginia R. "Ginger" Bates, age 89 of Xenia, OH passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Ginger was born January 21, 1928 in Piqua, Ohio to Henry and Gertrude (Jones) Hale. She married Robert D. Bates on February 1, 1947 in Beavercreek, OH.
Ginger loved to garden and ride around the farm on her golf cart. She was an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses for 81 years, had a kind heart and loved to tell stories of days gone by. Ginger was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and family and enjoyed taking walks through the woods. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Ginger is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Mike) Dakin; son, Denton (Barbara) Bates; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Duane) Schaffer, Jamie (Jason) Seymour, Lucas (Hannah) Bates and Eli (Lhanie) Bates; 14 great grandchildren; two nephews, Stanley and Billy Selle; and other nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; a sister Bonnie and two brothers, Gene and Buddy; a nephew, Arthur.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 to11:00 am. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery.
