Virgil Ray Conley, age 64, passed away on April 14, 2026. He was born on January 19, 1962, in Drexel, Ohio - the place where many of his stories originated and a town he never stopped talking about.
Virgil spent his career as a high-rise window cleaner, a job that perfectly suited his fearless and adventurous spirit. A thrill seeker at heart, he was never afraid to do the things most people wouldn’t. He lived life on his own terms and never worried much about what others thought.
In 1987, Virgil married the love of his life, Shawnda Conley. Together they built a life and family that meant everything to him. He was a proud father to Tiffany Conley, Amber Conley, and Shawn (Kaitlyn) Conley.
He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Michael, Aubrey, Braxton, and Paisley Jo.
Virgil was the youngest of six siblings: Caroline, Wanda, Emma Jean, Darlene, and Lawrence “Buddy.” With his passing, it marks the end of that generation of the Conley family.
Virgil enjoyed tinkering on small projects around the house and antique shopping, always looking for the next treasure. He was a believer and follower of Jesus and held his faith closely in his heart, sharing it with others.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Conley and Rosie Conley.
Virgil will be remembered for his fearless spirit, his strong personality, and the love he had for his family.
He lived life boldly, without fear and without apology, and the mark he left on his family, friends, and all who knew him will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 9:30am-10:30am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 10:30am with burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
