Virgil "Bob" Gross, born on October 28, 1934, in Irvine, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on October 4, 2025. Bob was a dedicated individual known for his hardworking spirit and nurturing heart. He graduated from Lee County High School in Kentucky, Class of 1954, and went on to serve the City of Dayton Water Department for 32 years. Following his retirement, he embarked on a new journey by starting his own business, "Gross Home Improvements", which he operated for 20 years, showcasing his commitment to craftsmanship and service.

Bob was a loving husband, married to his devoted wife, Dortha Lee, for an incredible 70 years. Together they built a life filled with love and mutual respect. He adored his family, especially his children, Lisa (Mike) Brown and Timothy (Lisa) Gross, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Timothy (Erin) Gross, Jesse (Stephanie) Gross, Aaron (Sabrina) Brown, Evan (Josie) Brown, and Nicolas Brown. His family was a source of immense pride for him, and he took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A man of deep faith, Bob taught Sunday School for at least 40 years, sharing his knowledge and love for the Lord with others. His contribution to his community extended beyond the classroom, as he was involved in the Masonic Lodge in Irvine, Kentucky, and the Scottish Rite in Dayton. In his leisure time, he found peace and pleasure working in his garden, which reflected the same nurturing spirit he exhibited in his personal relationships.

Bob's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is predeceased by his father, Charlie Gross; mother, Emma Gross; stepmother, Alma Gross; and siblings, Agnes Cretcher, Delbert Gross, Edmond Gross, and Bunt Gross. He will be fondly remembered for his big heart, kindness, and unwavering faith that inspired everyone around him.

Bob’s legacy lives on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
