Victor Hurst went to be with Jesus on Thursday April 27, 2017 at the age of 88. In the past 10 years, he had been in failing health due to Parkinson's Disease.
Victor was born May 8, 1928 in Hutch, Kentucky. He met and later married his beloved wife, Billie Jean Hurst at the age of 16.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Hurst,that he loved very much. He also was preceded in death by the passing of his 4 sisters, Viola, Della, Gertrude and Geneva and 3 brothers, Milburn, Alphonso and John Denny Hurst. Victor had 4 children, Myra, Dennis, Tony and Marvin. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchild.
Victor was a retired Firestone employee and had also been a carpenter that laid hardwood flooring. He grew up in the area of southeastern Kentucky and learned to make antique furniture from his father, John Denny Hurst. Jr. He married his wife, Billie Jean (Minton) Hurst in 1944 and they later moved to the Dayton Ohio area in the early 1950's where he did carpentry work and later was employed as a truck tire builder for Firestone Corporation.
Victor was a great lover of music and especially both country and gospel music. In the late 50's and early 60's he played and sang with a gospel group called the Pefferly Brothers as the lead singer and guitarist. They recorded several gospel records. He was very gifted in this area and passed those gifts onto his family. He enjoyed being with his family and also enjoyed fishing.
He will be missed by many here on this earth but we rejoice that he is re-united with his wife and other family members in heaven.
Visitation will be held 12:00pm until 1:00pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd., where funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. Victor will be laid to rest at the Minton Family Cemetery in Virginia.
