Victor A. Blankenship

June 30, 1933 — August 1, 2025

Dayton

Victor Allen Blankenship, Sr., age 92 of Dayton, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025. He was born June 30, 1933 in Red Jacket, West Virginia, the son of the late Fitzhue Lee and Grace (Burleson) Blankenship. Victor graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati, and attended classes at Anderson University and at Vincennes University in Indiana.

Victor served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Medic. He was a supervisor at Frigidaire for 23 years, until his Retirement in 1988. During those 23 years, and for the rest of his life, Victor accumulated a very large collection of Frigidaire items and publications, of which he was very proud! He wrote and self-published a book, titled Frigidaire Collectibles 2010 Price Guide & History.

Victor was a man of faith and an active member of Moraine City First Church of God. As a shut-in, he faithfully watched the livestreams of the services as he was able, singing along with most of the songs, and often commenting on the “good preaching!”

Victor was very talented, as a singer and as a songwriter! He always loved music and wrote many gospel and country songs, two of which were of interest to the Blackwood Brothers. In his younger days, Victor sang in a church quartet and was Song Director, Sunday School teacher and Youth Leader at Norwood First Church of God, in Norwood Ohio.

For many years, Victor enjoyed singing Karaoke, especially the fast and funny songs, and the duets he sang with his wife Rose. Victor had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He was a great Scrabble player and almost always won, except when he was helping his competition (his wife or daughter) to win!

Victor was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and his family was everything to him. He will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his Parents, and his Brothers, Harold E. Blankenship, Fitzhue Lee Blankenship, Jr., and Edward Blankenship.

Victor is survived by his lovely wife of 69 years, Rose Blankenship; Daughter, Vicki R. (David) Farrior; Sons, Victor A. (Gena) Blankenship, Jr., and Stephen A. (Barbara) Blankenship; Grandchildren, Heather K. (Adam) Smith, Dalton L. Blankenship, Nathan A. Blankenship, Elizabeth A. (Taylor) Fulkerson, Megan J. Blankenship, Matthew S.
