Verna Lee Koger

Verna Lee Koger, age 67 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born January 29, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of Homer and Evelyn Gillam.

She is preceded in death by her father, Homer Gillam; mother, Evelyn Gillam; husband, Odell Koger; two sons, Jeff Koger and Shawn Koger; and two grandsons, Odell Adamson and Shawn Koger Jr.

Verna is survived by her children, Bonnie (James) Koger, Jesse Adamson, Joni Koger, Bridgette Koger, Tina (Tom) Luckenbill, Rick Koger, and Teresa (Bud) Wilkerson; grandchildren, Amy, Jeffrey, Justin, Leann, Hailey, Alyssa, Harley, Blake, Ceaira, Andy, Brooke, Crystal, Rickey (Jenny), Stacey, Mike, Matt; many numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Rita Oaks, Butch Gillam, Penny Hanson, Chuck Gillam, Peggy (Tod) Tuite, Brenda Carter; special dogs, Honey Biscuit and Baby Girl; and best friend, Pamela Hoskins. She is also survived by numerous family and friends.

She will be remembered as a kind, selfless, and compassionate woman whose heart knew no bounds. Always willing to help others, she would do anything for anyone in need and was truly an angel to those who knew and loved her. Her greatest joy in life was being a devoted mother and grandmother, and she cherished every moment spent with her family.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, reading, watching The Walking Dead, playing pinochle and poker, talking on the phone with friends and loved ones, and baking special treats for those around her. Her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be Friday, November 13, 2026 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Newcomer - North Chapel (4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424). Funeral Service will be officiated at 10:30 am following the viewing, same location. Verna will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
