Verna Lee Blanton, age 89, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Village at the Greene. She was born July 31, 1926 in Harlan, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Blanton; parents, William and Della Pearl Gambrel; daughter, Marti Hutchinson; sister, Mary Edgington and brother, James Gambrel.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Bobbie and John Wood; six grandchildren, Candy and Jeff Sizemore, Larry Robert and Robin Griffey, Robert and Sherri Wood, Deanna and Brian Johnson, Nathan and April Wood, Timothy Wood. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
