Vern I. Wray

Vern I. Wray, age 99 of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Bethany Village Nursing Home. She was born in Johnson Fork, Jackson, Breathitt County, Kentucky on October 30, 1926. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Vern is preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Sam" Wray; father, Howard H. Vest; Mother, Zola Vest (Childress); step-mother, America "Merky" Vest (Wilson); her sisters, Opal Lee Petus, Willa Mae Hurst, Lorraine Dousay and Jean Vest; and brothers, Woodrow Vest, and Williard H. Vest.

She is survived by her daughter, Lavon Adcock (Taulbee); sons, William W. Taulbee and Randy B. Wray; numerous granddaughters, great-granddaughters, grandsons, great-grandsons, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., and Vern's funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Following the service, Vern will be laid to rest with her husband at Medway Cemetery.
