Venus Alsop

Venus Brock Alsop, age 89, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away on April 8, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio.

Venus was born January 4, 1936, in Hyden, Kentucky. Venus is preceded in her death by her parents Betty Brock Begley and Boone Hoskins; siblings, John, Will, Jean, and Bernadine; and son, Gregory Smith.

Venus is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Marie Smith; five grandchildren, Valerie (AJ) Popella, Andrew Smith, Tierney Burnett, Kayla Burnett, and Morgan Burnett; eight great grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter, Madison, Haven, Houston, Evelyn, Lucia and Luca; sisters, Brenda Letsche and Phyllis Brashears; many nieces and nephews; and her roommate and dear friend of the family, Mary Dunlap.

A special thank you to the staff at Stonespring Skilled Nursing Facility for the care and support they provided to Venus and her family.

There are no services scheduled. Venus will be buried in Virginia at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to Hospice of Southwest Ohio, 7625 Camargo Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243.
