Tonya D. Mack, a beloved member of her community and a cherished companion to many, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in Clayton, Ohio. Born on March 13, 1961, in Dayton, Ohio, she was a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Tonya was a proud graduate of Northmont High School’s class of 1979 and furthered her education at Sinclair Community College. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to service, retiring from the Wright Patt Air Force Base, where she worked in communications, messaging, documents, and the postal room. She also embraced various roles that showcased her versatility and determination.
Her heart was immense, always ready to give and support those in need. Tonya was known for her unwavering commitment to charity work and community involvement, focusing particularly on causes close to her heart, such as muscular dystrophy and juvenile diabetes. Her kindness and calm demeanor created a welcoming atmosphere wherever she went, and she had the rare ability to listen deeply and without judgment—traits that will forever be missed.
Tonya had an infectious love for music, which was one of her greatest joys. Whether she was crafting, roller-skating, or indulging in the thrill of hockey and UFC events, she embraced life with open arms and an ever-present smile. Those who knew her could always count on her to spread warmth and positivity.
Left to carry her memory forward is her beloved companion and partner for over 34 years, Timothy English. She is also survived by her niece, Corey Elkin; nephew, Dewitt (Rebecca) Elkin; brother, Gysgt. Michael Ackerman; sister, Kathy Bowers; uncle, Greg (Paula) Lockhart; cousins, David Lockhart and Sara Lockhart; along with many other family members and friends whose lives she enriched with her kindness and generosity.
Tonya is now reunited with her parents, John Mack and Louise Lockhart, and her brother, Rodney Elkin, who welcomed her with loving arms. Though she may have left this world, her legacy of compassion, love, and commitment to her community and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The world feels a little dimmer without her bright spirit, but her memory will forever illuminate the paths of those she deemed precious.
