In loving memory of Tiyana Marie Lashee Thornton — a beloved mother, daughter, and sister whose radiant light and boundless spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though her time with us was far too brief, her legacy of love and joy will forever remain. Tiyana was born April 3, 2003 to Lawana Gray and Demetrius Thornton in the vibrant city of Stockton, California. Tiyana spent her formative years in Ohio, where she grew into a woman defined by love, strength, and purpose. Her presence was a blessing, and her spirit continues to inspire all who knew her.
From her early days, Tiyana was a beacon of light — a true daddy’s girl whose laughter could fill any room. She shared a special, unbreakable bond with her brother and best friend, Titus “Bubby,” their closeness was marked by love, loyalty, and countless memories together. A passionate football fan, Tiyana never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved New England Patriots, proudly defending her team with her trademark spirit. She was a firecracker — bold, out spoken, and unafraid to speak her mind — yet beneath that fiery strength was a tender heart, full of compassion and love for her family. Above all, her greatest joy was being a mother to her daughter, Malaysia, whom she loved beyond measure — the light of her life and the heartbeat of her entire world.
Tiyana attended schools in Trotwood, Ohio, and proudly graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School in May 2022. Her dedication to helping others guided her next steps, leading her to earn her State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification — a milestone that reflected her compassionate nature and desire to make a difference. In her work, Tiyana’s gentle heart and caring spirit shone through as she touched the lives of those she served.
Tiyana was preceded in death by her mother, Lawana Gray, grandfather Roger Gray, and grandmother Michelle Newton. She is survived by her pride and joy, her daughter Malaysia Wallace, father Demetrius Thornton, bonus mom Jennifer, siblings Kahlil Thornton, TeAndre Thornton, Titus Thornton, and Dijenae Thornton. She also leaves a host of family and friends that she shared a unique and special bond with.
