Thomas Wayne Keller, age 85, passed away on October 9, 2026.
Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen, and his brother, Kenneth. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky); sons, Steven and Thomas (Patricia); stepchildren, Andrew (Julie) and Pamela (Coy); and many grandchildren.
A graduate of Belmont High School (1959), Tom earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from the University of Cincinnati (1965), a Master of Arts in Economics from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Business Administration from Wright State University (1972).
Tom dedicated 24 years of his professional career to Wright State University, retiring in 1993 as Director of Budgets and Regents Reporting. During his time at Wright State, he was also a founding member of the Raider Club. His enthusiasm for Wright State athletics continued for decades into retirement, as he regularly attended men's and women's sporting events across a wide variety of sports, always cheering on the Raiders. Retirement did not slow him down, as he continued his career serving on the Crisis Management Team at Central State University, working in software testing for Media-Consulting Inc., and later working at Sinclair Community College, where he retired for the final time in May 2004.
An avid runner and cyclist, Tom participated in numerous races, including 26 marathons, and completed the challenging JFK 50 Mile ultramarathon, and participated in the Great Ohio Bike Adventure for 8 years. He was an active member of the Ohio River Road Runners Club, where he was recognized as both Volunteer of the Year and Comeback Runner of the Year. Together with Becky, he also served for several years as race director for the Tadmor 10K and Crazy 8 Miler, sharing his enthusiasm for running and giving back to the running community.
Tom also enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. His travels took him to national parks, historic landmarks such as Gettysburg and Monticello, and colonial American sites, reflecting his appreciation for history and the outdoors. He also enjoyed getaways to destinations such as Key West and Sedona.
Above all, Tom was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. He was a constant presence at his children's and stepchildren's sporting events, concerts, and other activities, rarely missing an opportunity to show his support. Even when his kids told him that his attendance really wasn't necessary, Tom showed up anyway. Thanks, Dad. His unwavering support and dedication to his family will be remembered with love and affection, and he will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Interim HealthCare at 5211 Waynestown Court Suite C, Huber Heights, OH 45424 or to the Wright State University Excellence Fund. https://was.wright.edu/onlinegiving/makeagift
