JONES, Thomas J.
Age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 21, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenton and Ruth Jones; wife, Janet C. Jones; and his beloved golden retriever, Murphy.
He was a retired Pharmacist from the V.A. Medical Center. Tom was a gifted and talented man. He was a musician. He played the accordion, harmonica and the guitar. He wrote music and beautiful poetry. He was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed developing his own prints in his dark room. Tom was an artist. He created beautiful drawings and paintings of birds and nature. He loved the outdoors and spent a great deal of time camping, hiking, bird watching and canoeing.
He is survived by his daughters, Chris (Robb) McWharter and Caroline Jones; grandsons, Logan Lansangan, Charles Timmons, and Kenton McWharter; his great granddaughter, Willow Timmons, his brother, Ken (Sharon) Jones; his dear and loyal friend, Duane Focht; numerous wonderful nieces and nephews; and his cat, Fancy.
Tom's family wishes to thank Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care of Tom and his family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Hospice of Dayton. Go outside and enjoy a walk in the woods and think of Tom.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd.
