Thomas Norvel Harris, a highly respected member of the Dayton community and a dedicated family man, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Beavercreek, Ohio. He was born on October 12, 1929, in Keyser, West Virginia, and lived a life characterized by hard work, intellect, and a commitment to service.

He proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his service in the Navy, Thomas had a distinguished career as a retired engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. During his career at WPAFB, he was one of the lead engineers responsible for the design, development, and production of the A10 Warthog Project and contributed heavily to the different variants of the F15 Eagle including the navigation and communications subsystems. His contributions to engineering drew high accolades and numerous honors, and he was admired for his ability to lead by example, as well as for his honesty and kindness.

Education was important to Thomas, and he attended West Virginia University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. This foundation allowed him to excel in his career and make meaningful contributions to various projects throughout his professional life.

Beyond his technical expertise, Thomas was a devoted member of the Community Methodist Church on Meyer Avenue. He was actively involved in the community, participating as a member of the VFW Post 2800 and the Scottish Rite Masonic Valley of Dayton. He also dedicated his time to volunteering with the Kettering Police Department and shared his love of music by performing with local bands.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Nina (Conrad) Harris. He is also survived by their son, Doug (Jessica Schoening) Harris, four grandchildren: Thomas A. (Erin) Harris, Jessica Harris, Helen Harris, and Valerie (Josh) Ellis, and five great-grandchildren. He leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will remember him for his unwavering support and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milbern and Carrie (Longsdorf) Harris; his son, Thomas L. Harris, who passed in 2021; his sister, Mabel Kight; and his brother, Joseph Harris.

A visitation in honor of Thomas will take place on January 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at David's Cemetery Chapel, located at 4600 Mad River Road, Dayton, Ohio where Navy Military Honors will be rendered. Burial will follow at David's Cemetery. Thomas Norvel Harris's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to helping others will not be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
