Thomas H. Dempsey, 78, passsed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at The Hospice of Dayton.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Lillie and his brother Bobby. Tom is survived by his loving daughters Terri (Kevin) and Jeanna (Brian); grandchildren Stephanie (Paul) and Anthony (Audra); three great grandchildren Gavin, Kadence, and A.J.; brother William Hoyt; sister Mary Nell; niece, nephews, and other family and friends.
He graduated from Belgreen High School in Belgreen, Alabama. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force with service in the Korean War. During his time served he received many medals and service awards, including the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. Tom was an active member of the Korean War Veteran's Association as well as the Masonic Lodges in both Xenia, OH (Chapter 36) and Belgreen, AL (Chapter 428).
Tom retired from Kettering City Schools. He was a member of the EUM Church in Xenia, Ohio, and Mountain Home Church, Belgreen, Alabama. His legacy made a positive impact on everyones life and will be missed. He peacefully went to be free with his savior.
The family would like to thank Richard Byers, MD for his excellent care and compassion. Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM Monday, May 9, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton - Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio. Services to be held at 2:00PM, with Pastor David Faile officiating. Burial will follow services at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, Ohio.
