Theresa A. Jones

August 20, 1952 — July 5, 2025

Centerville

Theresa A. Jones, age 72 of Centerville, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born August 20, 1952, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the daughter of the late James Glenn and Annette Glenn (Davis).

Theresa grew up as the daughter of an Air Force fighter pilot, which led to many moves across the country and the world with her four siblings, Diane, Lisa, Patricia, and Tim. While the family was stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the early 1970s, she met and married her best friend, David, and the two were inseparable for nearly 52 years. Those 52 years were packed with an unending list of adventures. Aside from running the office side of Dave’s business and raising a son, Matthew, her interests varied widely, including becoming an accomplished artist in several mediums and becoming a certified gemologist. She was also a passionate animal lover, and her love of animals only grew as she worked with horses in a number of roles. She and Dave owned several horses, whom she worked with training and showing. This love grew into a particular interest in mares and assisting with delivering and caring for foals. Through this interest, she became a published author, helping many others learn about equine reproduction and ensuring their mares would safely deliver foals. While Dave worked with horses from sunup to sundown nearly every day, his interest away from horses lay in bass fishing. Through this, Theresa also developed a love for fishing and she and Dave enjoyed many fishing trips, particularly to locations like Lake Guntersville, Alabama. Theresa also operated the paperwork-side of a weekly Tuesday night bass club tournament for over 20 years, often (usually) out-fishing Dave. For day-to-day work, Theresa was a medical transcriptionist for a number of local doctors, pulling on an interest she'd always had after completing some training as a nurse earlier in her life.

After having a German Shepherd dog early in their marriage, Theresa decided she would like to have another. Their first shepherd, Eika, led Theresa and Dave into the world of K9 Search and Rescue and ultimately, a second shepherd, Maya. Eika and Maya were certified in wilderness area search, trailing, article search, land human remains detection, and water human remains detection. During these years, she, Eika, and Maya participated in many, many searches, including missing persons, drownings, as well as cold cases for law enforcement. Theresa was a member of Buckeye Search and Rescue Dogs from 2009 until 2021. She served on the BSARD board of directors from 2014 through 2016, and again from 2017 through 2020. She worked Eika from 2009 through 2018, and Maya from 2011 until 2021. Theresa served as a treasurer of The Ohio Federation of K9 Search Teams for several years, and in 2011 was awarded a Civilian Commendation from Miami County (OH) Sheriff’s Office for her work supporting law enforcement.

Theresa is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Jones; son, Matthew (Sarah) Jones; her siblings, Timothy Glenn, Lisa Young (Larry), Patricia Glenn Flaherty (Bud); and nephews, Seth Young and Shane Young (Lanna).

Along with her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Glenn Stidham.

Per Theresa’s wishes, memorial arrangements will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, Theresa asked that memorial donations be made to Buckeye Search and Rescue Dogs (via paypal at buckeyesardogs@gmail.com, or contact buckeyesardogs.org).
