Theodore B. Harman "Ted", age 95, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 two months prior to celebrating his 44th year anniversary, at Sycamore Health Care and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Harman was born October 16, 1915 in Louisville, KY to Theodore A. and Mary Elizabeth Harman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha V. Harman, his second wife Vinia Maria. He was also preceded in death by the following family members, Brothers: Joseph, Louis, Raymond, Willis and Robert. Sisters: Bernice, Rolfes, Dolly and Gravette, all of Louisville, KY.
Ted was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving during WWII. He was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack of December 1941. He was awarded the Legion of Merit and other commendations during his Air Corps service from 1936 to 1945.
Ted attended Rutgers University in NJ. Before his retirement, Ted was a long time executive in the overland freight business.
He retired from ABC Freight as their Regional Manager.
Ted is survived by his step-son Vernon and his wife Nan of Hamilton, OH. Also by his former step-daughter in-law, Virginia Hopkins of South Carolina. Ted was a friend of Bill W's and is survived by a multitude of Bill W's friends.
Friends may call at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering OH on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, May 2nd at 10:30 A.M. at St. Henry's Parish, 6696 Springboro Road, Dayton, OH 45449, Celebrant will be Father Ron. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested that donations to Alco Aides,2206 3rd St., Dayton, OH 45403 be made in Ted's name.
