Thelma Lucille Searls, age 94 of Dayton, passed away May 4, 2017. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 22, 1922 to the late Walter and Pearl Schaaf. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husbands: Thomas Birk, Ed Parr and Asel Searls; son, Allen Parr; daughter, Connie Landis; brothers: Raymond Schaaf and Chester Schaaf; and sister, Sally Bretsch.
Thelma is survived by her children: Linda Parr, David (Karen) Parr, June (Rick) Heis, Ed (Diana) Searls, Becky Tingelstad; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Thelma retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service. She was a member of United Commercial Travelers, Northridge Senior Center, Northridge First Baptist Church and Harrison Township Fun Band. Thelma was a very generous woman who made and donated nearly 3000 hats for the needy and homeless.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Thelma's memory to Crossroads Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
