Thelma Lee (Vice) Hornback, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born in Bethel, (Flat Creek) Kentucky on August 24, 1931, to the late William Taylor Vice and Hazel Grace (Cory) Vice, Everman.
Thelma moved to Dayton with her husband, "Jr", where they raised their family of three children, while working for McCall's, until she retired.
Thelma loved oil painting, sewing, gardening; especially tomatoes, raising flowers in her greenhouse; oh, the red and yellow ones, caring for her beloved plants, crafting with needle art, cooking; yummy chicken and dumplings and chocolate pies, playing her organ music and one of her favorites, computer surfing!
She loved being with her family, especially for the holidays, special gatherings, and celebrated everyone's birthday, by calling them every year and singing Happy Birthday Blessings to them, And May God Bless Them the Rest of Their Life.
Thelma is survived by her children, Gloria (Hornback) Gingell, Mike (Stephanie) Hornback and Ron (Gina) Hornback; grandchildren, Aundrea (Rick) Inman, Eric (Alicha Pelaez) Gingell, Marisa McPhillips, Danielle Hornback, Natalie (Sam) Bynum and Samantha (Adam) Blackmore; great-grandchildren, Javan and Canaan Inman Bailey, Dane, Kylie and Kolton Gingell and Caden Lyle, Curran Salazar, Rhyse and Piper McPhillips, Evelyn Belvo, Quinn and Lazulie Espinosa, Kiah Whack, Keegan Bynum, Chance and Gracie McArthur; along with numerous other beloved family members and friends she leaves to cherish her memory for many years.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Wilburn Hornback Jr.
To Heather Erdmann and Nancy Welch, thank you for your loving kindness. You were both, such blessings to Thelma/Mom/Mamaw.
Until we meet again Mamaw...We love you to the moon and back..
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-1:00pm on August 22, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek), where funeral services will begin at 1:00pm.
Thelma will be laid to rest with her husband at Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service.
