Tamarah Lyn Cornelius (“Tammy”), 64, of Centerville, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026, following a brief but courageous battle with Alzheimer’s-related dementia. She was born July 7, 1961, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, to Gary and Diane (Hofstetter) Turnbull. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Greg. A graduate of Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, Tammy dedicated much of her life to caring for her family. On August 16, 1980, she married Jerry Cornelius, and together they created a warm and welcoming home. Her most cherished role was raising their four sons, which she embraced with unconditional love and unwavering devotion.
While raising her children, Tammy also found other ways to stay busy and creative. She started Wild Over Wicks Candles, a home-based business, and was active on the local festival circuit, where many knew her as “the candle lady.” Later, she worked in clerical roles at Centerville Family Eye Care and Kroger. She was also a member of Morningstar Baptist Church.
Tammy is survived by Jerry; their four sons, Justin (Jenny) Cornelius, Todd (Courtney) Cornelius, Bryan (Corinne) Cornelius, and Jordan Cornelius; and her grandchildren, Averie, Reagan, Sophia, Riley, and Oliver, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by aunts and cousins in Ontario, Canada.
Tammy’s passing leaves a significant void in the lives of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459). A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 pm.
