Sylvia Marie Mills

Sylvia Marie Mills, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on August 1, 1942, Sylvia’s life was a testament to the profound love and dedication she held for her family and the simple joys that enriched her days.

Sylvia’s world revolved around her family. As a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she found her greatest pride and joy in the accomplishments and well-being of her children and grandchildren. She delighted in attending her grandchildren's sporting events, always cheering them on with boundless enthusiasm. Her sons, Anthony "Tony" Mills and Jason Mills (alongside his wife Kristin), were the light of her life, and her legacy continues in her cherished grandchildren—Kevin (married to Heather) Mullins, Andrew Mills, Justin (married to Sami) Mills, Aaron Mills, and Macalah (married to Joey) Yager. Sylvia’s warmth and kindness extended to her great-grandchildren, Beau and Knox, who brought her immense happiness.

Born to the late Harold and Bette Thompson, Sylvia was raised in Dayton and carried with her the values instilled by her parents throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Ogden Mills, with whom she shared countless memories and a steadfast partnership. Sylvia was also predeceased by her brother Harold Thompson, whose memory she cherished deeply.

Sylvia’s affection for family was matched by her love of the outdoors and the simple pleasures that brought her comfort and joy. She adored lighthouses and treasured visits to lakes, finding peace in their serene beauty. Her road trips with her sons provided treasured moments of bonding, exploration, and laughter. Known to enjoy a nice cold beer, Sylvia balanced her spirited personality with gentle warmth. Her fondness for animals revealed a compassionate heart that extended beyond her family circle.

She was supported in life by her brother Dennis Thompson and his wife Bonnie, special nieces, Janis and Wendie;  her best friend Mary Davis, and many other loving relatives and dear friends who were blessed to know her kindness and generous spirit.

A visitation to honor Sylvia’s life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH 45424. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Bellbrook Cemetery, 3939 Upper Bellbrook Road, Bellbrook, OH 45305, beginning at 12:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life.

Sylvia Marie Mills will be remembered not only for her unwavering love and dedication to her family but also for the kindness and warmth she extended to all who knew her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched, forever a beacon of love and devotion.
