Sylvia Ann Williams, age 84 of Dayton, Ohio went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2026. She was born August 19, 1941 in Burlington, North Carolina. The daughter of the late Pittman and Susie (Wilson) Bowling.
Sylvia was a loving and devoted partner, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She retired after 40 plus years from Mead Fine Paper here in Dayton, Ohio. She was of Baptist Faith. Sylvia was an avid sports fan, always cheering on her North Carolina basketball team. She enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, softball, handball, and golf. Sylvia enjoyed going to the beach and traveling with her partner Bill. Her pride and joy was her family and spending as much time with them as she could. Sylvia will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Bowling; step-father-in-law, Lowell M. Smith; and brother-in-law, Richard H. Smith.
She is survived by her significant other of 26 years, William "Bill" Smith; twin sisters, Fay (Dan) Poindexter and Kay Bowling; step-children, Jennine (Steve) Mustard and Christopher Smith (Jessica); 3 step-grandchildren, Christian, Breanna, and Samantha; step mother-in-law, Rose Nell Smith; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Bob) Harris; brother-in-law, Gary (Angie) Smith; nieces and nephews, Terry Bowling, Darryl (Tracye) Bowling, Alan Bowling, Trasha (Simon) Schwendener, and Kimi (Andy) McGee; step-niece, Michelle (Scott) Lilly; great nephew, Mathias Schwendener; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 2-3pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A memorial service will begin at 3pm also at the funeral home with Pastor David Faile officiating.
