Steven James Googash, age 77 of Miamisburg, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025. He was born February 11, 1948 in Dover, Ohio, the son of the late George and Carolyn Googash.
Steven graduated from Dover High School Class of 1966 and is survived by many beloved members of "The Losers Club." He obtained his bachelor's degree from Ohio University and continued to be a diehard OU fan. He furthered his education and obtained his master's degree from (reluctantly) Miami University of Ohio. He taught 3 years in New Lexington, Ohio and spent the following 32 years teaching in Kettering high schools, where he was also a track and field coach and official. He also coached the Quiz Team and had a love of trivia - he was impossible to beat at Trivial Pursuit. He also enjoyed bowling and bowled in a league at Woodman Lanes for more than 25 years. Steven will be remembered for his love of Maine, including all things "ferry boat" related and any innocent bystanders he could be a tour guide for. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Steven is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Jason (Hilliary) Googash, Kirsten Anderson, Drew Anderson; grandson, George; sister, Carol Lemasters; and nephews, John Lemasters and Jeff Lemasters.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 10 am to 1 pm at Christ Church United Methodist (3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering, OH 45429).
