Stephen R. Stoker

Stephen R. Stoker, born January 20, 1946, in Muncie, Indiana, passed away on August 12, 2026, in Kettering, Ohio. His life’s journey was marked by exceptional dedication to family, honor in service, and a passion for living fully.

Stephen began his accomplished career by enlisting and then becoming an officer after earning his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Southern Illinois University. With a steadfast commitment to his country, Stephen retired from the United States Air Force. Not one to rest on his achievements, he continued to contribute significantly as a civilian, ultimately working for over 30 years in the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and retiring from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Stephen’s career was distinguished by integrity, diligence, and a reputation as a valued colleague among his peers.

He was exceptionally devoted to his wife, Gail whom he married in 1987. They cherished opportunities to travel for both work and leisure; visiting places like Guam, Europe, Caribbean, around the United States--and even renewing their vows in Canada. Outside of his professional life, Stephen found joy and relaxation in various pursuits. He was an avid fan of golf, brought high energy to go-kart and stock racing, and delighted in boating. A true Corvette enthusiast, he was passionate about cars and the thrill of the open road--especially his C8 Corvette which he drove off the factory floor. 

Above all, Stephen was devoted to his family, treasuring time spent together and the memories they created. He is survived by his loving children: Pamela (Bill) Konopa, Bryon (Elaine) Stoker, Theresa (Jerry) Salo, Patricia (Patrick) Taylor, and Scott (Amy) Lowry. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his grandchildren: Thomas (Briana) Konopa, Molly Konopa, Sydney (Jarrett) McKinley, Julia Stoker, Tylor Stoker, Devin Stoker, Serenity Stoker, Gabriela Jimenez, Nathan Lowry, Brooke Lowry, DJ Siner, Brenna Siner, Samantha Salo, and Sabrina Salo; beloved dog, Mitsy; and numerous extended family members and friends. 

Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mariam (Sonnier) Stoker; parents, Benjamin and Rosemary Stoker; and granddaughter, Delaney Elizabeth Konopa. Their memories remain a cherished part of Stephen’s story, woven into the tapestry of a life well-lived.

Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Dayton National Cemetery, West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428 where US Air Force Honors will be rendered. 

Stephen R. Stoker’s life was characterized by service, loyalty, and a deep love for his family. His influence—measured in devotion, achievement, and kindness—continues to inspire all who knew him.
