Humbert, Stella Virginia age 90, of Moraine, (formerly of Stonega, Virginia) passed to Heaven Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 of COVID-19 at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek.
Stella was born on July 14, 1930, to Forrest and Daisy (Wells) Lambert, the eldest of 11 children.
During her COVID-19 battle a medical professional said Stella was a "fighter". She fought many battles during her 90 years – she was tough and determined not just to survive but to thrive.
Her giggle was contagious and constant. Her eyes and smile lit up with expression as she listened with full focus to whomever was speaking.
She never lost her child-like heart. She planned parties, made green candy, told stories, crocheted brightly colored creatures, and was full of surprises. Many of us visited her house and heard her say, "Hey, come in here, let me show you something!" It was never quite what you would have expected to see! She was her best self with a baseball card or a BINGO card or a crochet needle in her hand. She could wield a crochet needle like an artist. If she could imagine it, she could crochet it!
She loved the Lord dearly even when she lived in physical pain she praised Him.
Stella also loved her family and friends dearly and was always in the loop keeping up on the latest happenings.
In her later years she began to long for Heaven, but never stopped living and giving to others in the present. She was intent on helping others as long as the Lord left her here. Last Monday her longing for Heaven was fulfilled. No doubt she began giggling on the golden streets, probably skipping like a child holding onto her mother's hand.
She was preceded in death by her husband, (Jack D. Humbert), her infant daughter (Janet Rue Humbert), her parents (Forrest Sr. and Daisy Lambert), three brothers (Delbert, Sidney, and Ellis Lambert). These and other family members joyfully met her with open arms as she entered her eternal home.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jack R. Humbert (Pat) of Franklin, Ohio, five sisters, Opal Clark (Ross) of Moraine, Ohio, Robena Clark of Perry, Georgia, Maurine Dennison of Norton, Virginia, Lorrine Wells (Alan) of Stonega, Virginia, Rue Gembach (Bill) of Norton, Virginia, two brothers Forrest Lambert, Jr. (Margaret) of Stonega, Virginia, C.O. Lambert (Cathy) of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. She is also survived by a beloved niece and great-nephew, Robin and Dusty Paul of Dayton, and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved their Aunt Stella. She left behind her special friend and companion, George Rowland. Stella was adored by her neighbors, church family, the fellow residents and staff of Kingston of Miamisburg. She will be deeply missed.
