Sonya Valene Kay Clark

Sonya Valene Kay Clark, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born on March 22, 1954, in Xenia, Ohio.

Sonya will be remembered as a loving and kind woman with a big heart and a joyful spirit. She liked to laugh and brought warmth to those around her through her caring nature. A homemaker, she devoted herself to her family and home with steady love and commitment.

Education was one of Sonya’s proudest accomplishments. She graduated with honors from The Ohio State University with a degree in Criminal Justice, an achievement that reflected her determination and dedication. Beyond her work at home and her academic success, she found happiness in reading, politics, going to the library to print things to share with the whole family, watching movies, and especially spending time with Tom.

Above all, Sonya treasured her family. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Sizemore. She also leaves behind her children, Kavelle (Kevin)  Browder-Whitehurst, Ralph Singleton, Precious Morrow, Marissa Sizemore, Zach Sizemore, and Dakota Sizemore. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Justin Browder, RaShaun Watts, Michael Winfield Jr., Ralph Singleton Jr., and Micaiah Sizemore. She is further survived by her siblings, True Jackson, James Clark, Mary Margaret Clark and Harry Clark. Each of them carries forward the love, laughter, and strength she shared so freely.

Sonya was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Clark; her father, Robert Clark; her sister, Precious Cokes and her brother Robert Clark. 

Visitation will be held on September 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Middle Run Baptist Church, 1000 E Church St, Xenia, OH 45385. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church. She will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens. 

Sonya’s life was marked by love for her family, pride in her accomplishments, and delight in everyday moments shared with those she held dear. Her presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
