Listen to Obituary

Sondra Kay Taylor, age 65, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away on September 14, 2026. She was born on January 23, 1961, in Kettering, Ohio, to William and Barbara Shemwell.

Sondra devoted many years of her career to working as an office manager for a local glass company. Strong, independent, and selfless, she lived life on her own terms and cared deeply for the people she loved.

Sondra found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—feeling the warmth of the sun, planting and tending to flowers, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a true animal lover and had a special kindness and compassion that touched those around her. Her strength, generous heart, and unmistakable spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Sondra leaves behind her beloved daughter, Corrye Vaughan, and son-in-law, Tony Vaughan; her cherished grandchildren, Shiley and Aria Vaughan; her parents, William and Barbara Shemwell; her sister, Karen Cash, and brother-in-law, Tony Beach; and her nephew and nieces, Ryan, Natalie, and Reagan Cash.

A Celebration of Sondra’s Life will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Sondra’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Trinity Community at Beavercreek for the love, kindness, and care she received, with special thanks to her nurses, Haley and Heather.

The family is also deeply grateful to the staff of Hospice of Dayton for the compassion, dignity, and comfort they provided during Sondra’s final days, especially her nurses, Brooke, Trish, and Abby, and her aides, Diane and Catherine.

The family would also like to give special recognition to Cati for her unwavering care, love, and support—not only for Sondra, but also for Corrye and the entire family. Her kindness and presence during such a difficult time will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

Donations may be made in Sondra’s memory to Trinity Community at Beavercreek, 3218 Indian Ripple Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45440.
