Listen to Obituary

Shirley Ann LaBeau, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family in Dayton, Ohio. Born on March 16, 1943, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Shirley radiated warmth and kindness throughout her life, a true reflection of her caring and loving nature.

A graduate of Beavercreek High School, Class of 1961, Shirley found her calling in nurturing and educating others. She worked diligently as a librarian for the Dayton Public Schools, as well as local private schools during her children's schooling years. Her passion for knowledge did not wane as she transitioned to assembly at Kodak, demonstrating her strong will and dedication until she retired.

Shirley was deeply proud of her family, cherishing her role as a caregiver and a guiding presence in their lives. She is survived by her loving husband George, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, and her children George (Beth) LaBeau and Lori (James) Burton. As a grandmother, Shirley's heart swelled with joy as she embraced the laughter and love of her grandchildren: Brandon LaBeau, Dylan Burton, Coty (Chelsea) Burton, and Alec Burton. Her legacy continues to thrive in her great-grandchildren, Camdyn, Breadyn, Hailey, Hayden, Kinsley, Leo, and Eli, who were the pride of her life and the source of countless cherished memories.

Among her many interests, Shirley found joy in quilting, crafting, and gardening, often working on projects that would bring delight to those around her. She was also an avid collector, always on the hunt for unique treasures, and loved to travel with George, creating lasting memories together that they would treasure forever.

Shirley is also survived by her sister Ginger (Jack) Barker and many extended family members and friends who will forever hold onto the remarkable impact she made on their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ed Ramey, and her sister Sharon Walters, who she loved dearly.

The world has lost a kind-hearted soul with the passing of Shirley Ann LaBeau, a woman whose strength, compassion, and love will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
