Shirley (Stackman) Keaton, passed away on Feb 23, 2014 at the age of 93. Her husband, John preceded her in death by only three weeks. They will be together to celebrate their 70th anniversary on March 1st.
She is survived by her seven children: Patricia (John) Dintaman, Shirley Schulz, Judy (Timothy) Walsh, John (Nilsa) Keaton, Mary (Dale) Bruggeman, Theresa (Tony) Dollahite and Joseph Keaton; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Atkin; brother, Robert (Pat) Stackman; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Christopher and Alberta Stackman; brother, Richard Stackman; son-in-law, Gene Schulz; daughter-in-law, Pamela (Gifford) Keaton; and grandson, Thomas Guffy.
Shirley was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her long marriage and life have been a great example for all of us. The family would like to thank Dr. David Page for the care he has provided Shirley over the years and the staff of Vitas Hospice for their care and support at the end of her life.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 411 E. 2nd Street, Dayton. Father Kenneth Pleiman, Celebrant. Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery with her husband. Contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to either VITAS Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
