Shannon L. Mendoza, born on September 26, 1971, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, dedication, and an unyielding love for family. Shannon’s journey through life was marked by a fierce work ethic and an independent spirit, qualities she proudly instilled in her children, Angelita Mendoza and Tyler Howard. She believed deeply that hard work could turn dreams into reality—a lesson she demonstrated daily during her many years at General Motors, Cargill, and Abbott.
A woman of strength and resilience, Shannon embraced her tomboy spirit with pride, forging her own path while remaining grounded in the closeness of family. Though her immediate family was small, her heart was vast; the friends she cherished and worked alongside became as dear to her as kin. Shannon found immense joy in the company of her beloved grandmother and treasured her role as grandmother to three grandchildren who filled her days with laughter and love.
Away from work, Shannon valued the quiet, simple moments that brought peace to her soul. She was an avid reader and found solace in the stillness that books and calm surroundings provided. The pool was her favorite sanctuary—where summer days were spent with her daughters swimming under the warm sun, pushing herself to dive off the board with the proud smile of a mother who had watched her daughter take the plunge before her. Evenings after time at the pool were filled with warmth as she sat on the floor with her girls, playing Rummy for hours with CSI playing in the background—a small ritual that revealed the deep bonds of connection she nurtured with her loved ones.
Shannon’s family mourns her passing deeply. She is survived by her children, Angelita Mendoza and Tyler Howard, her three grandchildren, and Patty Harman. Their lives are forever touched by Shannon’s unwavering support, love, and the lessons she so lovingly imparted. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Harman; her mother, Vonya Terry; and her grandparents, Alvin and Betty Jean Harman, whose memories she carried with her faithfully.
In remembering Shannon L. Mendoza, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose strength, independence, and heartfelt devotion to family illuminated the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved and inspired, a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit that will endure.
