Sewell Eleston "Bobby" Jackson, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 82. Born on July 28, 1942, in the small town of Winchester, Kentucky, Bobby carried with him the warmth of his Southern roots throughout his life.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Bobby served our nation from 1962 to 1966, dedicating himself with the same passion and loyalty that characterized his entire life. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling 34-year career as an Electronic Equipment Specialist for the Defense Electronic Supply Center, retiring on August 2, 1996. Bobby was not only devoted to his work; he also approached his life with a giving spirit, kindness, and an unwavering love for those around him.
He was educated at the Clark County School System and further attended the Kentucky College of Business, laying the foundation for a life marked by diligence and integrity. Bobby's personality shone brightly; he was full of life, exhibiting a stern confidence that was quickly matched by his deep kindness and love for others. His family and friends will always remember him as a man who provided strength and comfort, embodying what it meant to be truly generous.
Bobby had a zest for life that extended beyond his professional pursuits. He found great joy in listening to soul music, with its rhythms resonating with his vibrant spirit. He is survived by his daughter, Erika Jackson; granddaughter, Shomari Kendrick; sister, Garnett Elaine Jackson Haggard; cousin Tajuana Smith; honorary god-daughter, Cathy Rome; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bobby has now reunited with his parents, Garnett Jackson and Roberta Williams, and his uncle, James "Smitty" Smith, in eternal rest. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, kindness, and integrity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with deep connections, laughter, and unyielding love. Sincere memories of Bobby will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who loved him dearly.
