Scott E. Gibson

Scott E. Gibson, 54, passed away unexpectedly at his home this week. Scott was the 2nd born son to Donald “Don” and Norma Gibson in Dayton, Ohio on August 13, 1971. In 1978, Don married his high school sweetheart, Nola “Darlene” Gibson and the family soon called themselves a smaller Brady Bunch with Don and his two sons and Darlene with her two daughters. Scott spent the majority of his childhood growing up in North Hampton, Ohio with his siblings, Donald (Donnie) Gibson, Jr., Mari Levinson, and Mica Howard. Scott went to the Northwestern School district but he lived for summer. Summers spent at Indian Lake camping, fishing, and sitting around the camp fire making s’mores and cherry pies were some of the happiest days of Scott’s life. Christmas time was also a particular favorite of Scott’s. The family would spend hours decorating their house and Scott was always the percussive voice singing “pa rum pum pum pum” during the many renditions of The Little Drummer Boy the family would sing. For every major event, prom, homecoming, or wedding, Scott was the family videographer and would spend hours following the family around while capturing every minute of the important day.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents Don, Darlene, and Norma Gibson, all of his grandparents, multiple aunts, uncles, and his cousin, James "Jimmy" Dykes.

Scott is survived in death by his 3 siblings, Don Gibson, Jr., Mari (Joseph) Levinson, and Mica (Christopher) Howard; his cherished nieces and nephews, Jacob (Selena) Carver, Megan (Reid) Kappen, Morgan Daniel, Christopher (Katie) Howard, Denver Gibson, Ari Levinson, and Josh Levinson; and dearly loved great-nephew, Ryland Fain; aunts, uncles, cousins, and and life-long family friends, Steve and Angel Grimm.

Scott did not always have the easiest time as an adult, and he pursued many different career fields, homes, and aspirations during his too short of a life. During all of these changes, one thing remained certain; Scott loved his family dearly and was always there when needed.

Scott showed up to every family function, early, in a family of chronically late people. Around 10 days before a birthday was celebrated, Scott would start reaching out and telling each family member happy birthday. It is believed he would average around 5+ happy birthday messages for each birthday celebrated. Scott was the family fixer upper; he always gave his all and would spend hours helping the family with whatever they needed done. Scott enjoyed gossiping and smack talking those he felt wronged him. Scott loved a good steak, loud music, movies, Netflix, a warm blanket, and his treasured X-Box. The world will be a bit dimmer without Scott’s presence, and he will be sorely missed by those that loved him.

Scott wished to be cremated and have his ashes spread at his favorite place, Indian Lake. The family will be hosting a memorial service in Spring, 2026 to spread Scott’s ashes.
