Sarah Nell Taylor

March 29, 1946 — September 17, 2020

Sarah Nell Taylor, age 74, passed away at her home in Dayton, Ohio on Thursday, September 17, 2020. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She attended church regularly until she became physically unable to do so. She was a faithful member at Mt. Olivet Church of God In Christ. She worked as a Nurse's Assistant at Mariah Joseph Nursing and Rehab Center for many years until she retired in 1992.

Sarah Nell was born on March 29, 1946 in Jackson, Tennessee. She moved to Dayton, Ohio as a young girl and was a proud Roosevelt Teddy. She worked in the office doing secretarial work and attended school functions religiously. She enjoyed riding her bike, jumping the creek, reciting poetry, and English Literature. She was a quiet person, but a true friend to all who knew her. Sarah Nell was as sweet as pie, and loved being with family. She enjoyed our family dinners and outings.

Sarah Nell was a dedicated mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She'd do anything to make sure we smiled. She enjoyed her soap operas and talked about them often. She enjoyed seeing and talking with everyone, getting caught up on the latest gossip and happenings. She had the sweetest laughter one could ever enjoy, especially if something "tickled her spirit". We loved to hear her laugh!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nevada J. Gray and Otis D. Gray, Sr.; brother, Otis D. Gray, Jr.; grandson, Derrick "Chris" Taylor; great-grandchildren, London M. Taylor and Arylnn Cummings; aunt, Ruby Northern, Trish Northern, Ella Ray Caroll, Sarah Cobb, and Janie-Ruth Martin; uncles, Andrew Northern and Willie Gray; and brothers-in-love, Bill Barton and Lloyd Cox.

Sarah Nell leaves to cherish her loving memories three children, Candace, Carla, and Derrick Taylor; sisters, Bobbie Barton, Korey Gray and Ida Cox; four grandchildren, James Taylor, Ka'Ron Taylor, Chae'nin (Sydney) Landers, and Cierra Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Elijah "EJ" Owens, Jr., Emily-Rai Taylor, Ta'Kila and Keymani Barker, and Maurice and Meyah Landers; niece, Cheryl Barton-Morrow; nephews, William "Billy" Barton, Jr., James "Jimmy" Barton, Ivan, Kenny and Marvin Manson; special Godson, Thomas "Wayne" Washington; special aunt, Ann Rowland; special uncles, Ozell (Carolyn) Northern, Sr., Robert (Flora) Northern, and Bennie Northern; special cousin, George H. (Allean) Cobb; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Family will receive friends Monday, September 28, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3490 Kettering Blvd, where funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at West Memory Gardens in Moraine, Ohio.

Family would like to thank the Staff at Grandview Hospital, Kettering Cancer Care Center, Nurse Terry with Accelera Home Healthcare, and Nurse LaTonya Hunter for their loving care of Sarah Nell. A special thank you to family friend and home health aide Tasha Nichols for her years of service and care for Sarah Nell. And thank you to Mt. Olivet C.O.G.I.C and Residence Park Church in Christ for flower arrangements.
