Edrine Leukert, age 86, of Beavercreek Township, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2026. She was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, on January 30, 1940 to the late Edward and Sara Hanson.
Edrine was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Hanson-Scott.
She is survived by loving husband of 61 years, Klaus Detlef Karl Leukert; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Ken Chaij (and grandchildren--Nicolas and Nathaniel); sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Sharon Leukert (and grandchildren--Michael, Matthew, and Greta), and Kristian and Aimee Leukert (and grandchildren--Fiona, Gared, Liana, and Kayleigh); as well as her brother, John Hanson.
Edrine worked as a Registered Nurse in several Seventh-Day Adventist boarding academies, including Georgia Cumberland Academy and Thunderbird Adventist Academy, and later, in LifeCare of Scottsdale. During her career, she touched many lives with her tender care and sparkling personality, making a profound impact on those in her care.
Edrine was a lifelong member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She knew God loved her and loved sharing that with others--from teaching children's Sabbath School to welcoming guests with her bright smile to using her artistic talents on various projects. Edrine painted beautiful banners centered on themes from the Bible and they grace several church sanctuaries around the country.
In her free time, she served as the communication hub for her family and friends. Her weekly text messages will be missed. She also enjoyed sewing, painting, ceramics, reading, and music.
